Business Simulations: Making the Most of Your Talent Development Portfolio
From executives in the C-suite to employees on the front line, business simulations are a robust addition to traditional leadership development programs, yet many companies haven’t considered them as a viable option. The claims are “my company is too small” or “it’s too expensive” or “I’ll never get buy-in”…
What people don’t consider is the triple impact that business simulations can offer to even start-up and growth stage companies. No other talent development option allows companies to effectively communicate their strategy, foster cross functional dialogue in a risk free environment, and build critical capabilities into one learning experience.
This BOLD workshop has been designed to provide HR professionals with both a business case for including simulations in your development portfolio, as well as the experience of being in an actual life science business simulation.
To achieve this, we have invited Susan Burnett, VP of Leadership Development at BTS and Elana Ponce, Director of Executive Talent Development at Salesforce.com to provide us with the background, case studies and expected outcomes associated with simulations.
Caroline Duffy, BTS consultant, will then facilitate a team based simulation that will allow you to step into the role of a Life Sciences Leader, make strategic choices and business decisions for your company, all while confronting the internal and external challenges that arise along the way.
Attend and you will:
- Experience the strategic trade-offs and business challenges that confront Life Sciences leaders through an interactive simulation
- Hear from business leaders on the power of experiential learning and simulation to drive strategic alignment, and aid in hiring, developing, and assessing talent
- Gain valuable insights on the latest research regarding the power of experiential learning
- Learn about new, innovative ways to cultivate environments of learning
Context/About Simulations:
Advances in technology and demographic shifts, in the context of a VUCA world, have catalyzed a dramatic shift in how work, innovation and learning happen throughout the business world. In order to stay competitive in the marketplace, organizations across the globe are breaking their traditional learning and development frameworks in favor of dynamic, interactive development that’s integrated into everyday settings and interactions. At the forefront of this growing trend is experiential learning and simulations.
An emerging body of research suggests that simulations and the gamification of learning and development improves reasoning and problem-solving skills in adults; teaches higher-order skills (e.g. strategic thinking, analytical thinking and adaptability to change) and improves post training retention.
Learn more about how you can leverage experiential learning and simulations to accelerate the transformation of how your business works, innovates, and learns to create “smarter” and more competitive organizations positioned for growth.
